For the occasion, a team of researchers and doctoral students from the IdA network worked together to select three feature films, some of which have never been shown in France: La gente del documental (Inti Herrera, 2022), Rustic Oracle (Sonia Bonspille Boileau, 2019), Canción sin nombre (Melina León, 2019).

Rustic Oracle by Sonia Bonspille-Boileau, 2019

Tuesday 13 June from 8.30pm to 11pm at Cinéma Comoedia

Set in the late 1990s, Rustic Oracle is a dramatic feature about Ivy, an 8-year-old girl trying to understand what happened to her big sister who has vanished from their small Mohawk community. With minimal clues, Ivy and her mother Susan embark on an unwelcome journey to find Heather which will ultimately bring the pair closer together despite challenging circumstances. Behind the story of desperation, told through the eyes of a child, lies one of hope, growth, awakening and love.

Canción sin nombre by Melina León, 2019

Thursday 15 June from 8.30pm to 11pm at Cinéma Comoedia

Peru, at the climax of the 1980s political crisis. In a mountain village close to Lima, Georgina, a young Quechua woman, is pregnant. Wile she sells - to survive - potatoes on a market, she hears on the radio an announcement for a free pregnancy monitoring. But after the birth, the clinic refuses to tell her where her baby is. Commited to finding her daughter, her research will lead her to the only person who would listen and try to help her : a silent and fiercely independent journalist, Pedro Campos. Canción sin nombre is the director's first feature film which is inspired by real events and more precisely by a terrible story her own father, a journalist, has helped uncover in the 1980s.

La gente del documental by Inti Herrera, 2019
