From tuesday 13th to thursday 15th of June, at the Palais Hirsch

Organization: Hélène Aji (ENS)Virginie Aron (Institut des Amériques) and Eloisa Thomas (Institut des Amériques)

The administrative teams that make up the scientific research structures have a major role in supporting research in the human and social sciences. The Institut des Amériques and all of the Americanist laboratories in France work on a daily basis to support the conception, realization, valorization and capitalization of scientific projects: scientific events, publication and valorization of work, national and international opening towards civil society, the political world or the artistic field. This work is carried out by collectively committed actors from a wide range of backgrounds, from graphic design and communication to research, international relations, project management and law. These teams have the technical and creative savoir-faire to adapt to the challenges inherent to scientific research in France.

The interest in exposing this work of accompanying scientific research teams is to highlight activities that are often hidden, but which are essential for researchers in SHS, and whose value deserves to be highlighted. It is also an opportunity to look at and understand scientific activity from another angle, that of the inside and behind the scenes of research. Thus, the visitor will be able to discover the diversity of activities and projects related to scientific research and become aware that scientific research is not limited to research itself.
The exhibition will show that scientific research, particularly in the social sciences and humanities, relies on a fruitful dialogue between the administrative teams and the researchers. Each scientific project is carried out through a co-construction that brings into play the expertise and experience of the scientific teams as well as the technical and logistical capacities of the administrative teams, which shape a whole whose common goal is to advance research.

For this exhibition "Accompanying Research", the administrative team of the Institut des Amériques proposes to highlight a moment or a project, an outstanding collaboration with a researcher or a group of volunteers. The format chosen is that of an individual poster, allowing for the multiplication and cross-fertilization of experiences in research support. The poster will highlight the valorization of paper publications, the construction of communication tools for a major scientific event, the coordination of a long-term project at the intersection of scientific research and artistic creation, the long-term follow-up and revitalization of relations with international research centers, or the benefits to be gained from repeated collaboration with international actors linking Europe and the Americas.

Therefore, each person who participates in the realization of this exhibition will propose a narrative crossing personal and professional experience within the scientific research community. Similarly, each narrative will be linked to a particular project or moment, but will remain readable at a more general level by proposing its own version and its own vision of the accompaniment of Americanist research.
